Atmosphere at the BGN Office After the Search Related to the MBG Corruption Scandal
Activities at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) have returned to normal after the Attorney General’s Office conducted a search the previous day related to the alleged corruption scandal in the free nutritious meal program. Employees are carrying out their duties as usual.
When visited on Thursday morning, June 4, 2026, at approximately 09:00 WIB, the BGN office began receiving visitors. However, security personnel appeared to be more vigilant than usual.
The entrance gate was closed. Each person wishing to enter the building was first questioned about the purpose of their visit. Security personnel then determined whether the visitor could enter or not. This protocol differs from the previous practice, where the front gate was open, and visitors could enter the lobby to register at the reception desk.
In addition, media personnel were not allowed to enter. According to security personnel guarding the gate, the search activities had ceased, and activities had returned to normal. However, security was instructed to be tightened. “(Journalists) are not allowed to enter for now,” said an officer who declined to be named.
The same officer also stated that Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, the new head of BGN who replaced Dadan Hindayana, had not yet arrived at the office since the search. The same applies to the two new deputy heads of BGN, Agustina Arumsari and Major General TNI Trenggono. They replaced Police Inspector General (retired) Sony Sonjaya and Lieutenant General TNI (retired) Lodewyk Pusung.
“Because they have not been inaugurated yet. Perhaps they will come after the inauguration,” he said.
Nanik has not yet responded when asked for comment regarding her appointment as the new head of BGN, as well as about this corruption case. However, outside the BGN office, rows of flower arrangements were displayed with messages congratulating Nanik on her appointment as the head of BGN.
The three, Dadan Hindayana, Sony Sonjaya, and Lodewyk Pusung, are suspected of corruption in the management of the free nutritious meal program at BGN. All three are now in custody and have been named as suspects.
Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office, Syarief Sulaiman Nahdi, said on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, that the naming of the suspects was carried out after the prosecutors obtained two pieces of evidence. “DH, SS, and LP have been named as suspects based on two sufficient pieces of evidence obtained by investigators,” said Syarief in a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office.
The night before the search, President Prabowo Subianto removed Dadan Hindayana from his position as head of BGN. The government also dismissed Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung from their positions as deputy heads of the agency.
In this case, prosecutors suspect that the three suspects committed irregularities in the management of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) or MBG kitchens. According to Syarief, the suspects allegedly controlled several foundations managing the SPPG through other parties to obtain illegal profits. “These foundations can be said to be owned through other people. Owned by using other people or controlled by the perpetrators,” said Syarief.
In addition to the alleged manipulation of foundations, investigators also found evidence of markups in several procurement projects at BGN. These projects include the procurement of 21,801 electric motorcycles worth approximately IDR 1 trillion, the procurement of 32,000 pairs of shoes, 31,994 tablets, and 5,400 75-inch televisions.
“All three intervened with the Implementing Officer so that in the preparation of the Work Framework for the procurement of goods and services at BGN, it was not prepared according to actual field needs and there were markups in the procurement prices,” said Syarief.
