At the Haul of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Urges Citizens Not to Forget History
Deputy Minister of Social Affairs (Wamensos), Agus Jabo Priyono, attended the Grand Haul of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin, marking its 465th year in the Gregorian calendar and 470th in the Hijri calendar, at the Square of the Great Mosque of Old Banten, Kasemen Subdistrict, Serang City, Banten.
Thousands of people gathered for a series of activities including istigasah prayers, recitations of verses from the Holy Qur’an, a cultural festival, and a grand tabligh featuring ulama and community leaders.
The event carried the theme ‘Seeking Blessings and Welcoming Miracles, Upholding Dignity.’ In his speech on Monday (30/3), Agus Jabo urged the public not to forget history as a foundation for building the nation’s future.
“President always says, ‘jas merah’, never forget history. Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin is a history that we must safeguard and draw lessons from,” Agus Jabo stated in his remarks on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
He emphasised that the values inherited from Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin remain relevant not only in his era but also serve as an important foundation for contemporary national and state life.
According to him, Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin’s leadership reflects three main pillars that form the basis of civilisation: political strength, religious spirituality, and economic independence.
“These three pillars are currently symbolised by the palace as the centre of government, the mosque as the centre of spirituality, and the market as the economic centre. This is the concept of national life that has been passed down since ancient times,” he explained.
Furthermore, Agus Jabo stressed that Indonesia, as an Eastern nation, possesses a character inseparable from spiritual and religious values. This is reflected in the concept of the Negara Kertagama, where national prosperity and glory are rooted in the nobility of life’s values.
“In this haul momentum, let us revive our local wisdom and the nobility of our ancestors so that this nation has a strong identity,” he said.
He also noted that the haul commemoration is not merely an annual ritual but a space for strengthening community togetherness and unity.
“Tonight is a night of manunggal, uniting the people with their leaders and ulama. This is the basis of our unity that must be continuously maintained,” he stated.
Further, Agus Jabo invited all elements of society to continue strengthening unity and mutual cooperation as the key to realising the nation’s ideals.
“With national unity and the spirit of mutual cooperation, we can realise a just and prosperous Indonesia,” he asserted.
Agus Jabo also supported the continuation of the Haul of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin as part of the region’s strategic agenda, with potential to be included in the National Event Calendar (KEN).
