Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto threw the hat he was wearing and danced on stage while attending the peak of the 2026 National Labour Day commemoration held at the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta, on Friday morning.

Based on the live YouTube broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat, monitored in Jakarta, Prabowo arrived at the Monas intersection area around 08:30 WIB.

The President, wearing a cream-coloured safari suit and black trousers, first greeted residents from the vehicle taking him to the event location.

Prabowo’s arrival on stage was accompanied by a performance from the band Tipe-X to liven up the Labour Day commemoration.

In that moment, Prabowo was seen throwing the hat he was wearing towards the workers below the stage.

The President also appeared to dance along to the rhythm of the song “Kamu Nggak Sendirian” performed by Tipe-X together with the attending workers. Cheers from the workers echoed as Prabowo swayed on stage.

At the event, Prabowo was accompanied by several officials, including Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor.

President of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPSI), Andi Gani Nena Wea, President of the Labour Party Said Iqbal, who is also President of the Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPI).

This year’s International Labour Day or May Day commemoration carries the theme “Collaboration Together to Realise Industrial Progress and Worker Welfare”.

The total number of workers participating in the International Labour Day peak event at the Monas area is estimated to reach 200,000 people, with around 4,000 buses and 20,000 motorcycles.
