Astra SATU Indonesia Seeks Change Agents from Eastern Indonesia
Astra held the Roadshow for the 17th SATU Indonesia Awards 2026 in Makassar, South Sulawesi, as an effort to encourage the emergence of more young people actively providing solutions for society. The event, themed ‘Connected in Action’, was attended by more than 500 participants from among students, university students, communities, social activists, and young entrepreneurs. This potential is also supported by South Sulawesi’s economic growth, which reached 6.88 per cent in the first quarter of 2026, placing the province as the region with the sixth-highest economic growth in Indonesia. Chief of Corporate Affairs Astra Boy Kelana Soebroto stated that the large number of young people in South Sulawesi is an important asset for delivering various innovations that impact the community. ‘The large number of young people in South Sulawesi is a strength that needs continuous support so it can develop into various actions that benefit society. Through the theme ’Connected in Action’, Astra wants to provide a space for the younger generation to meet each other, share experiences, and strengthen collaboration so that their concern and ideas can develop into a broader and more sustainable impact,’ said Boy. The roadshow featured several speakers, including Assistant I for Government and People’s Welfare of the Regional Secretariat of South Sulawesi Province Ishak Iskandar, representing the Governor of South Sulawesi; Judge of the 17th SATU Indonesia Awards 2026 and Rector of YARSI University Prof. Fasli Jalal; Founder of Young On Top and judge Billy Boen; Head of Corporate Communications Astra Windy Riswantyo; and recipient of the 2017 SATU Indonesia Awards appreciation Jamaluddin. This activity was held considering the significant potential of the younger generation in South Sulawesi. Based on projections from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in South Sulawesi Province in Figures 2026, approximately 2.41 million residents in the province are in the 15-29 age range. Nationally, Sulawesi Island has more than 5.2 million youths, or about 7.89 per cent of Indonesia’s total youth. In addition to discussions on education, leadership, self-potential development, and collaboration, participants also received inspiration from the story of Jamaluddin, recipient of the 2017 SATU Indonesia Awards and driver of the Astra Prosperous Village in Kanreapia, Gowa Regency.
