Asphija Ready to Support Implementation of DKI Jakarta's Smoke-Free Areas Regulation (Perda KTR)
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Jakarta Entertainment Entrepreneurs Association (Asphija) has said it is ready to support the implementation of Jakarta DKI Regional Regulation No. 7 of 2025 concerning Smoke-Free Areas (Perda KTR). Asphija’s General Chairman, Kukuh Prabowo, said that the regulation and restrictions on smoke-free areas in the Perda KTR DKI Jakarta would not kill the viability of the entertainment industry sector, which includes cafes, bars, live music and similar venues. ‘From the outset, our campaign to safeguard the Perda KTR DKI Jakarta has essentially been to support government programmes that are good and well targeted,’ Kukuh told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday. However, a total smoking ban or the application of KTR in night entertainment venues would be inappropriate given that consumers or individuals accessing night entertainment are certainly required to be aged 21 and over. Therefore, before any technical regulations of the Perda KTR DKI Jakarta are issued, they hope to be involved in discussions so that the regulations remain fair and accommodate shared interests. In addition, he hoped that the implementation of the Perda KTR DKI Jakarta would continue to adhere to the principle of regulation and restrictions, not merely a total prohibition. Kukuh believes the practice of implementing the Perda KTR DKI Jakarta should focus on socialisation and education rather than tightening sanctions. In this way, the night entertainment industry is not further burdened. ‘Our hope is that with regulations that are more in favour, adjustments to certain rules, our night entertainment industry can compete with neighbouring countries,’ Kukuh said. He added that through collaboration between the government, industry players, and the public, Jakarta’s entertainment sector is expected to continue developing as a driver of an inclusive and sustainable creative economy.
