Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming stated that the government and members of the House of Representatives (DPR) will office together in the Nusantara Capital (IKN).

This was conveyed by Gibran in response to a statement from DPR member of the PDI-P Faction, Deddy Sitorus, who asked him to start officing in IKN as soon as possible.

“Thank you for the input from the Honourable Member of Parliament Mr Dedy Sitorus. We’ll all office together in IKN later,” said Gibran in his statement on Thursday (9/4/2026).

Gibran said that IKN will soon officially become the capital in 2028.

“Because IKN has been designated as the political capital in 2028. Thus, the state administration, both from the executive, judicial, and legislative sides, must be fulfilled,” he explained.

Previously, Deddy requested that Vice President Gibran and the ministers start officing in the Nusantara Capital (IKN).

He made this demand during a Commission II DPR RI meeting with the Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026).

Deddy assessed that this is necessary so that the buildings in IKN can be utilised soon and not damaged due to lack of use.

He also proposed that several ministries start placing their officials to work from IKN on a rotational basis.

In addition, Deddy highlighted that many ministries still do not have permanent buildings.

The PDI Perjuangan politician also greatly regretted if the buildings constructed in IKN are not used.

“We have 48 ministries, Sir, there are institutions, isn’t there anyone who wants to utilise them, Sir? There are still many ministries that use buildings that, perhaps, are not government-owned. Why not just go there? Work is digital now anyway. That’s it,” he said.
