PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (State-Owned Enterprise) Ketapang Branch in Banyuwangi, East Java, has increased operations to 35 ferry units from the previous 30 vessels to manage the growing congestion of mudik travellers at Gilimanuk Port in Bali.

Bayu Kusumo Nugroho, Coordinator of the Ketapang Ferry Port Service Unit at the East Java Class II Port Authority, stated that 35 ferries are now operating daily on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route due to the continuous increase in holiday travellers at Gilimanuk Port.

“Previously, during normal mudik traffic, 28 ferries operated, which we increased to 30 units. Because traffic continues to increase today, we have further expanded to 35 ferries,” he said in Banyuwangi on Saturday.

Bayu explained that five additional large-capacity support ferries operate under a loading-focused pattern, meaning these five vessels prioritise passenger loading at Gilimanuk Port to ease congestion.

“So these five large-capacity ferries are prioritised for docking at Gilimanuk Port for passenger loading, while at Ketapang Port they only handle disembarkation,” he said.

ASDP Ketapang/Gilimanuk branch data indicates that on 8 days before Lebaran 2026 (Friday, 13 March 2026), 37,877 travellers crossed from Gilimanuk Port in Bali to Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi.
