Banyuwangi, Indonesia — PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has raised the number of ferries operating on the Ketapang (Banyuwangi)–Gilimanuk (Bali) crossing from 28 to 32 vessels to strengthen service capacity and ensure smooth Eid al-Fitr 2026 homecoming traffic.

ASDP’s President Director Heru Widodo said that for Eid al-Fitr 2026, public mobility is projected to rise significantly.

‘For the Java–Bali crossing, the number of passengers is projected to grow by around 10 percent and vehicles by 9.3 percent compared with the previous period, and nationally total movements are expected to reach around 5.8 million passengers and 1.4 million vehicles,’ he said in a statement received in Banyuwangi on Friday.

Meanwhile, he continued, the homecoming flow from Bali to Java is also projected to rise with growth of around 9.5 percent in passengers and 8.7 percent in vehicles.

Heru Widodo stressed that the company continues to strengthen operational readiness to safeguard safety and smooth travel for the public.

‘We remain committed to placing the safety of service users as the top priority, and we will continue to take anticipatory measures so that crossing services remain reliable and provide a sense of security to the public,’ he said.

He added that, based on BMKG forecasts, the potential for heavy rain remains something to be watched in several regions including Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara and the mountainous parts of Papua.

‘As a mitigation step, ASDP will deploy tugboats to assist vessels during strong winds and strong currents,’ he said.
