PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has swiftly responded to the increase in vehicle traffic at Ketapang Port following the end of the operational restrictions on three-axle and heavier cargo transport. ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale stated that the surge in vehicles, especially logistics trucks, is being handled through tactical and collaborative measures across sectors. She emphasised that the company prioritises integrated handling to maintain smooth traffic on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route. Windy understands the inconvenience felt by service users. “Currently, ASDP along with all stakeholders continues to strengthen handling so that queues can be cleared quickly and services return to normal,” she said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday (3/4/2026). From within the port, acceleration is achieved through more structured loading patterns. Docks 1, 2, and 3 are focused on passenger vehicles—two-wheeled, four-wheeled, and buses. Meanwhile, Dock 4 and LCM are maximised for logistics vehicles. This scheme effectively reduces mixing conflicts, making the loading and unloading process more homogeneous, quick, and efficient. Windy conveyed that vehicle volume control is also strengthened through optimisation of buffer zones. The Pusri area is specifically used to accommodate up to 150 three-axle trucks, while the Bulusan buffer zone can hold around 600 mixed trucks. “This step ensures that density does not immediately accumulate within the port area,” said Windy. Windy said that queues from the north were monitored reaching Parasputih or about 7 km from the port entrance, dominated by logistics vehicles until Thursday evening (2/4/2026). Nevertheless, traffic flow from the tollgate to the dock remains moving with travel times ranging from 20 to 35 minutes. Based on data from the Ketapang Post during 24 hours on H+10, 47,961 passengers crossed from Java to Bali, an increase of 16 percent compared to the same period last year. Cumulatively, from H-10 to H+10, total movements reached 761,391 passengers and 201,676 vehicles, reflecting high public mobility and logistics distribution across Java-Bali. “The smoothness of queue clearance is also greatly influenced by road user discipline. Service users, especially from the north, are urged not to go against the flow, which could worsen congestion and hinder on-site handling,” Windy continued. With strengthened operations and cross-sector synergy, Windy added, ASDP ensures that ferry services continue to run safely, orderly, and under control. “We continue to intensify collaboration so that conditions return to normal soon. Support and compliance from service users are key to accelerating queue clearance,” said Windy. General Manager of ASDP Ketapang Branch, Arief Eko, explained that operational optimisation is also carried out through strengthening ship service rhythms and readiness of supporting facilities. His side ensures that all docks and fleets operate at maximum capacity with more directed service patterns. “Our focus is to accelerate ship turnaround time so that vehicle queues can be reduced quickly,” said Arief. On the external side, traffic arrangements are strengthened through intensive coordination with authorised apparatus. Support from TNI Headquarters with the deployment of 365 personnel from various branches has become a key element in maintaining smooth vehicle distribution to the port. “We appreciate the TNI’s support which helps accelerate queue clearance and maintain order in vehicle flow,” he added.
