The National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) has urged citizens who will be undertaking mudik, the traditional mass homecoming during religious holidays, to report and entrust their homes and vehicles that will be left behind.

This message was conveyed by Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of Public Relations Division, National Police, during an event distributing 1,500 meals and break-fast provisions (takjil) to the public on Tuesday, 10 March.

Trunoyudo assured that all police units have prepared maximum services for the public. He expressed hope that the mudik activities to be undertaken by citizens in the coming weeks will proceed smoothly.

He then requested that citizens planning to mudik should not hesitate to report or entrust their vehicles and homes left behind to officers at the nearest police precinct (Polsek).

“This can be communicated to neighbourhood leaders (RT, RW) who remain, and particularly to the Police Community-Policing officers (Bhabinkamtibmas). There is also a facility for depositing vehicle items at the Polsek or police offices. Please use these services,” he explained.

Trunoyudo also asked citizens to exercise caution during their mudik journey. He emphasised that the primary objective of mudik is to reach one’s hometown safely.

“Safety is the most important consideration in mudik—arriving at your destination, not speed,” he stated.

On this occasion, Trunoyudo said that through this synergy, the National Police collaborated with journalists in providing blessings and contributing to the benefits of the holy month of Ramadan.

“Every year we distribute food consisting of break-fast provisions and meals to the public approaching the break-fast hour, even whilst they are still in the middle of their work,” he explained.

“Such as some ride-hailing drivers, of course, as well as other public transport drivers. This is our shared concern and empathy,” he said.

The meal and takjil distribution was carried out at several locations around the National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta. This year’s activity was an initiative by journalists and is conducted annually with support from the National Police.
