As Hotel Sultan Eviction Approaches, PPKGBK Prepares Handover Process
The eviction of Hotel Sultan in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex, Central Jakarta, is scheduled for Thursday, 18 June 2026, following a Central Jakarta District Court ruling for the clearance of Block 15 of the complex, formerly known as Hotel Sultan.
Legal counsel for the Minister of State Secretariat and the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK), Kharis Sucipto, said that based on information from the Central Jakarta District Court, a Notice of Eviction Execution dated 19 May 2026 has been sent to PT Indobuildco via registered mail.
On the other hand, PPKGBK, as the new manager, has time to prepare the handover process to ensure it proceeds orderly, safely, and without disrupting public interests.
“With almost a month’s grace period, we hope PT Indobuildco will voluntarily vacate the site. The court’s letter also urges occupants or anyone who has acquired rights from Indobuildco to reside in or occupy the land and building to leave voluntarily. This is crucial to prevent the execution from causing new issues,” said Kharis, cited on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
PT Indobuildco is a company owned by Pontjo Sutowo, which has been managing Hotel Sultan.
PPKGBK Director Rakhmadi A. Kusumo stated that his office respects the court’s scheduled execution date.
According to him, the return of Block 15 GBK is a crucial opportunity to ensure state assets are managed professionally, transparently, and benefit the nation.
“We are grateful that this state asset will be managed professionally. The proceeds will be returned to the state and ultimately used for public benefit,” said Rakhmadi.
PT Indobuildco’s legal counsel Hamdan Zoelva affirmed that his company will continue pursuing legal action regarding the Hotel Sultan dispute in Central Jakarta.
According to the former Constitutional Court chairman, the legal process for the case remains ongoing despite the Central Jakarta District Court’s eviction execution ruling. PT Indobuildco is still filing appeals and cassation.
Hamdan stated that in Civil Decision No. 208 of 2025, the judges ordered the eviction of the Hotel Sultan area. However, he said the judges also stressed the importance of resolving the matter fairly through negotiation and reconciliation.
