As Head of Bakom, Qodari Pushes for Improved Government Communication
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom) Muhammad Qodari has stated that he will promote better government communication through closer cooperation with various ministries, institutions, and the mass media.
“Insha’Allah, I am very close with these media friends, and hopefully this closeness will make the communication process better and even better,” Qodari said at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
Qodari said his new role as Head of Bakom RI is a significant trust because of the numerous government programmes under President Prabowo Subianto that need to be explained to the public, including the background and objectives of each policy implemented.
According to him, these government programmes are fundamentally aimed at fulfilling the mandate of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, namely protecting the entire Indonesian nation, advancing general welfare, enlightening the nation’s life, and participating in world order.
He assessed that this major task requires collaboration with all ministries and institutions as well as all stakeholders, particularly the mass media, which has long been an important part of the public communication process.
Qodari mentioned that he has close ties with the media community because he has long been involved in the communication world and knows many press figures. He hopes that this closeness can make the government communication process run better.
“This very large task must collaborate with various institutions, with all ministries/institutions. Insha’Allah with all stakeholders, especially with media friends,” he said.
Regarding future public communication strategies, Qodari said he does not want to rush into steps because the current media landscape is very different from 10 to 20 years ago.
In addition to conventional mass media, he said, social media now also plays a significant role, and some of them behave like the press.
He said this condition presents its own challenges that need further consideration in formulating government communication strategies.
“Social media today also partly behaves like the press. But with regulations that may differ from those of the press friends, and at that point, this is certainly a unique challenge, and what and how it will be, of course, we will think about it going forward,” he stated.
Furthermore, Qodari assessed that the biggest homework in government communication is not in the methods or the officials involved, but in the magnitude of the task to explain President Prabowo’s programmes, which are considered numerous, massive, fundamental, and introducing a new paradigm.
Therefore, Qodari stated that he will study the communication processes that have been running previously to optimise government communication going forward.
“I will learn from Mr Hasan Nasbi, from Mr Angga Raka, with Mrs Meutya, with all existing stakeholders because communication is actually in all ministries/institutions in all parts. Insha’Allah, later together with friends, we will optimise our communication even more in the future,” he said.
Muhammad Qodari, who previously served as Head of the Presidential Staff, was officially inaugurated as Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom) RI, replacing Angga Raka Prabowo.
President Prabowo Subianto directly led the inauguration ceremony at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday. Qodari stood before the President accompanied by a religious figure.
“That I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible for the sake of my service to the nation and state,” stated Prabowo, followed by Qodari.
