As Eid Approaches, Bank Saqu Reminds Customers to Beware of Digital Fraud
Jakarta – As Eid al-Fitr approaches, digital transaction activity among the public tends to increase. Against this backdrop, Bank Saqu has launched an educational campaign titled “Beware of Cyber Ghosts” to remind customers to remain vigilant against various digital fraud schemes.
This initiative is described as part of Bank Saqu’s commitment to protecting customers through enhanced digital security literacy amid increasing cyber crime threats. Cybercriminals often exploit these conditions to perpetrate various fraud schemes.
Common fraud methods include fake messages regarding package deliveries, shopping promotion offers, and individuals posing as representatives of particular institutions requesting personal data or one-time password (OTP) codes. Bank Saqu notes that digital fraud threats are also increasing alongside the rapid development of digital financial services.
Through a light and easily understandable storytelling approach, Bank Saqu hopes the public will find it easier to recognise various fraud schemes whilst understanding simple steps to protect themselves.
Angela Lew Dermawan, Chief Digital & Retail Business Officer at Bank Saqu, stated that this initiative is part of the company’s ongoing effort to assist customers in conducting safe transactions in the digital era.
“In today’s digital world, cyber crime threats often arrive undetected and are not always clearly visible, but their impact can be very real for the public. As we approach Eid al-Fitr, when digital transaction activity typically increases, we want to remind customers to remain vigilant against various fraud schemes,” Angela said in a written statement on Sunday, 15 March 2025.
The Beware of Cyber Ghosts campaign will be presented as a series of educational content distributed through various Bank Saqu digital channels, including social media and other digital platforms. Through this content, the public will be invited to recognise various “cyber ghost” characters that represent common fraud schemes whilst learning simple steps to avoid them.
The campaign background also references data from the National Cyber and Cipher Agency (BSSN), which recorded that Indonesia experiences hundreds of millions of cyber traffic anomalies each year that could potentially lead to various digital attacks.
