Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Aruk State Border Crossing (PLBN) in Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan, shows a trend of increasing cross-border activity on H-2 ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, dominated by the influx of returnees from Malaysia to Indonesia.

Head of PLBN Aruk, Viktorius Dunand, in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday, said that based on monitoring results, the number of entrants from Malaysia reached 1,510 people on Thursday (19/3).

“Based on the monitoring by PLBN Aruk officers, a surge in the number of border crossers from Malaysia to Indonesia reached 1,510 people. This figure is higher compared to Tuesday’s 1,294 people and Wednesday’s 1,395 people,” Viktorius stated.

He explained that the total number of arrivals using passports was 615 Indonesian citizens (WNI) and 545 foreigners (WNA). Meanwhile, the number of departures to Malaysia using passports was 303 WNI and 32 WNA.

In addition, arrivals using the Border Crossing Post (PLB) from Malaysia totalled nine WNA. Whereas, departures to Malaysia using PLB were one WNI and five WNA each.

The post, which has been operating since 13 March 2026 and is scheduled to continue until 25 March 2026, is led by the Sambas Police Resort and involves PLBN Aruk along with elements of the Sub-District Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkompimcam) of Sajingan Besar.

During that period, according to Viktorius, joint officers conduct routine patrols and 24-hour guarding to ensure security, order, and smooth community activities in the border area.

“With full commitment and the operational service standards implemented, PLBN Aruk is always ready and alert to provide the best service to the community, especially in anticipating the increased flow of crossings ahead of Eid al-Fitr,” he said.

Through cross-agency synergy and personnel readiness, PLBN Aruk, managed by the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) of Indonesia, is committed to ensuring that the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah homecoming momentum runs safely, orderly, and smoothly, while providing comfortable cross-border services.
