Bengkulu is one of Indonesia’s provinces located on the west coast of Sumatra, stretching approximately 525 kilometres from its southern border with Lampung Province to its northern border with West Sumatra Province.

Known as the Land of Red and White, Bengkulu lies on the western transit route of Sumatra. This route is not actually a primary homecoming corridor during the Eid holiday exodus, as the busiest traffic occurs on the central and eastern routes. Nevertheless, the Bengkulu Provincial Government and relevant stakeholders remain vigilant in ensuring that holiday travellers experience safe and comfortable homecoming journeys to Bengkulu, particularly given that the province is recognised as a popular holiday destination.

The Land Transport Management Agency (BPTD) Region III Bengkulu, for instance, continuously strengthens transport supervision during the Eid period to ensure that all operating vehicles are roadworthy, safe, and comfortable for holiday travellers.

Starting 13 March 2026, the BPTD will visit all head offices and representatives of holiday transport service providers to conduct strict inspections, ensuring that no unroadworthy holiday transport vehicles are permitted to operate.

A total of 128 intercity and inter-provincial buses (AKAP) as well as a number of tourist buses have been prepared to serve the public. These fleets form a crucial part of holiday travel mobility in Bengkulu for Eid 2026.

Each vehicle must undergo a roadworthiness inspection or ramp check. These inspections are conducted to ensure that vehicle components fully meet safety standards. Vehicles that fail to meet requirements are not permitted to operate, as an effort to minimise accident risks during travel.

The BPTD has also established monitoring posts at several strategic locations, including the BPTD Bengkulu office, Air Sebakul Terminal, Nangka Junction, and at the weighbridge.

These posts serve as control centres for monitoring transport movement during the holiday exodus and return period. They also function as coordination spaces for inter-agency collaboration. The BPTD has also deployed hundreds of personnel to monitor transport operations during the holiday period.

Mapping of several road segments potentially experiencing increased vehicle volumes has been completed. Several points identified as congestion-prone will be equipped with warning signs to help drivers remain vigilant when passing through.

Air Sebakul Terminal in Bengkulu City is also being encouraged to operate optimally during the holiday period. The terminal is expected to become the main transport service hub for intercity travel.

Integrated services between intercity and inter-provincial transport and city transport at Bengkulu City’s main terminal continue to be promoted, so that holiday travellers experience ease in continuing their homecoming journey destinations within Bengkulu.
