Argo Bromo Anggrek Passenger Sues PT KAI for Rp 100 Billion at Bandung District Court
BANDUNG – Rolland E Potu, a passenger on the Argo Bromo Anggrek train, has sued PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) for Rp 100 billion at the Bandung District Court. The Rp 100 billion claim is for immaterial damages, with the funds intended to be handed over to the victims of the accident.
The lawsuit has been registered under case number 251/Pdt.G/2026/PN Bandung on 30 April 2026. Rolland stated that his suit against PT KAI was registered at the Bandung District Court on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
As is known, 16 female passengers died after becoming victims of the collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and a KRL at Bekasi Timur Station some time ago. Dozens of people were also injured and required intensive treatment.
“That (Rp 100 billion) is intended for the victims who died or were injured. I will not take any of it or part of it,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
As an active train passenger, including on the Argo Bromo Anggrek, he recounted that during the accident, he was in the executive carriage. He said he waited for an hour but had not received any latest information regarding the accident.
“In the end, I evacuated myself; I asked my family to pick me up because I had a court hearing the next day,” he said.
Three hours after the accident occurred, he regretted that PT KAI only informed passengers via text message about an operational issue. Moreover, Rolland was surprised that the information provided was about an operational issue and did not explain the accident.
“The SMS language was, ‘Argo Anggrek cancelled due to operational issues.’ But it was an accident; this was almost three hours later,” he said.
