Are There Specialist Tools to Detect Flood-Damaged Second-Hand Vehicles?
Jakarta – Many consumers now employ vehicle inspectors before deciding to purchase second-hand cars. This step is taken to minimise hidden risks, such as vehicles that have been flooded.
So, are there specialist tools used to detect second-hand flood-damaged vehicles?
“Yes, we use scanning equipment. Its function is to detect errors in the vehicle’s sensor systems and electrical components,” said Hakim to Kompas.com recently.
“In the case of flood-submerged vehicles, usually quite numerous malfunctions can be detected through such equipment,” he said.
According to Hakim, assessing flood-damaged second-hand vehicles cannot be based on just one or two factors alone. Rather, there are many parameters that must be satisfied to conclude that a vehicle has been flood-damaged.
Furthermore, Hakim explained that scanning or diagnostic equipment is indeed one of the main tools wielded by inspectors.
In vehicles that have been flood-submerged, electrical system problems are generally found. These range from faulty sensors, error modules, to components that do not function normally.
Nevertheless, the use of scanning equipment is not the only method. Inspection remains necessary, ranging from the condition of the interior, engine compartment, vehicle undercarriage, to small details such as rust at certain points.
