Arbitrary action

Arbitrary action

From Kompas

While waiting for a friend of mine, I went shopping in the Hero supermarket at the Gajah Mada Plaza on May 18, 1995.

I sensed I was being watched. Understandable, because I might look like a "criminal." A plain-clothed (security) person was watching me suspiciously. I didn't pay any attention to this manner of security measure, and I continued with my shopping.

Having paid for my purchase, I went downstairs and headed for the toilet. I was about to go into the toilet when some Gajah Mada Plaza security guards and the plain-clothed Hero security guard approached me. They talked to me harshly and, upon my request, they began to search me.

Obviously, I felt very much insulted by this action. As they couldn't find any evidence that proved their suspicions about me, they left, without making an apology.

I hope the Hero supermarket and Gajah Mada Plaza can explain their arbitrary action against an innocent customer.
