Arab Countries Condemn Iran's Attack on UAE
Arab countries have condemned Iran’s latest attack on the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They expressed solidarity with Abu Dhabi over the measures taken to protect its territorial security.
In separate statements, as reported by TRT World on Tuesday (5/5/2026), Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, and Jordan issued condemnations of Tehran after the UAE reported that its air defences intercepted at least 15 missiles and four drones launched from Iranian territory.
The series of attacks was launched in four waves throughout Monday (4/5) local time. One drone attack reportedly triggered a fire at the Fujairah Oil Industrial Zone complex, a major energy hub on the UAE’s east coast.
Fujairah officials stated that at least three people, all Indian nationals, sustained injuries from the attack.
Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the Iranian attack and expressed solidarity with the UAE in its efforts to protect its sovereignty and security, while calling on Iran to halt its assaults.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveys the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation and rejection of Iran’s targeting – involving missiles and drones – of civilian and economic facilities in the sisterly United Arab Emirates, as well as a vessel owned by an Emirati company,” stated the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition to the missile and drone strikes, an ADNOC tanker, the UAE state oil company’s vessel, was hit in an attack in the blockaded Strait of Hormuz. ADNOC reported that two drones struck the MV Barakah off the coast of Oman, but no injuries were reported.
Further condemnation came from Qatar, which described the attack as a “flagrant violation of its sovereignty and a serious threat to regional security and stability.”
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused Iran of “targeting civilian sites and facilities in the friendly UAE state using missiles and drones.”
“Qatar’s full solidarity with the UAE and support for all measures taken to preserve its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity,” emphasised the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Egypt condemned “in the strongest terms the Iranian attack launched using missiles and drones targeting United Arab Emirates territory.” The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed “full solidarity and support” for the UAE’s subsequent measures.
“Warning of the extremely dangerous repercussions of these attacks, which represent a serious escalation that impedes efforts to de-escalate tensions and constitute a flagrant violation of the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.”
Meanwhile, Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al-Safadi, spoke by telephone with the UAE’s Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in which he condemned Iran’s attack on the UAE.
