Apple's iPhone Ultra design takes shape as firstfoldable smartphone
The design of Apple’s first foldable smartphone, tentatively named ‘iPhone Ultra’, is gradually being revealed to the public. Recent leaks of protective cases for the foldable iPhone have circulated online. The accessory’s appearance, first spotted on iFunSmart, seemingly confirms that the ‘iPhone Fold’ is taking shape. Instead of following the vertical book-style design of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold, Apple appears to have chosen a different screen ratio approach. When unfolded, the iPhone Ultra’s screen is said to be much wider, making it resemble an iPad Mini more than a traditional smartphone. This hybrid smartphone-tablet design is expected to enhance user experience when consuming entertainment content, such as watching movies, series, or gaming. Given that third-party accessories are already being manufactured, it’s likely Apple has finalised the iPhone Ultra’s design. In addition to the accessory images, several technical specifications for Apple’s first foldable phone have emerged. The device is rumoured to feature a dual OLED display with a 5.5-inch external panel and a 7.8-inch internal one. Its form factor is claimed to be slim, measuring 9.5mm when folded and just 4.5mm when fully extended. For photography, the iPhone Ultra is said to have dual rear cameras without a telephoto lens, consisting of a 48 MP main sensor and a 48 MP ultr wide camera. For selfies, Apple has placed a single lens on the outer display and adopted under-display camera technology for the internal panel. Under the hood, the A20 Pro chip paired with 12GB RAM powers the device, along with a dedicated C2 chip for energy efficiency.
