Stalled monorail pillars along Rasuna Said Road, Kuningan, South Jakarta, have finally been completely demolished. There are no longer any towering pillars in the middle of the road.

According to detikcom’s observation at the location on Wednesday (25 February 2026), the pillars that had been idle for 20 years have disappeared. In the vicinity of Setiabudi Station, the remnants of the monorail pillars have already begun to be excavated.

At the site, there is an excavation approximately 1.5 metres wide. Barrier fences have been installed along the length of the excavation from the dismantled pillars.

At other points, dust and concrete fragments from the demolished pillars are still scattered. Nevertheless, no sand has spilled onto the road.

Meanwhile, at other locations, remnants of the demolished pillars are still visible. For example, concrete reinforcement rods or deformed steel bars still remain from the dismantled monorail pillars around Rasuna Said LRT Station.

Similar conditions are evident at other points around Kuningan LRT Station extending towards the Kuningan underpass. Currently, only road barriers remain, with vegetation planted in their midst.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has confirmed that all stalled monorail pillars along HR Rasuna Said Road, South Jakarta, have been cut and tidied. The area’s restoration is targeted for completion by June.

“The 109 monorail pillars have all been cut and tidied as of last Saturday,” said DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (24 February).

He stated that after the pillars are removed, the DKI Provincial Government will immediately begin further development including pedestrian pathway improvements, water channel repairs, and the addition of parks in the corridor.

“We will begin development for pedestrian pathways, drainage systems, parks, and other facilities. Hopefully by June it will be completed,” he said.

Pramono is targeting that Rasuna Said’s appearance will have changed by Jakarta’s anniversary celebration on 22 June. This restoration is expected to make the area more orderly, pedestrian-friendly, and aesthetically improved.

As is known, the monorail project in Jakarta stalled for years, leaving concrete pillars in the middle of the road. The presence of these pillars has frequently been complained about as they are considered to be detrimental to the appearance and urban planning of the city.

With the completion of the pillar demolition, the DKI Provincial Government is now focusing on comprehensive improvements to make the Rasuna Said corridor a more comfortable and representative area.
