Apologise and Make Peace with Victims of the Harley‑Davidson Moge Crash; HS Boss: From Now On You Are My Family
Abdullah, the rider of a Yamaha Jupiter MX involved in a crash with the Harley-Davidson big motorcycle ridden by HS tobacco boss Muhammad Suryo, has expressed appreciation and welcomed Suryo’s goodwill and full responsibility. Abdullah said they had reached a settlement with the HS boss. “We accept the responsibility and have agreed to resolve this matter peacefully,” Abdullah said when receiving a representative of Suryo at RSUD Wates.
Ratih, Deva’s mother, also welcomed the gesture. She described the incident as a misfortune and said both parties had agreed to make peace. “No one wants this to happen. We are all victims. There is no one to blame, we also apologise for hearing that your wife (Suryo) has died. We forgive each other because we are all victims,” Ratih said.
“We share in your grief at your wife’s passing. May you recover soon,” she added.
She also expressed appreciation for the responsibility shown from the outset. “The response has been good; since the incident, an emissary of Mr Suryo arrived that night to handle everything, ensuring my husband and son are treated well, including being cared for in the VIP ward,” she said.
The tragic crash occurred when a Harley convoy passed through an intersection without traffic lights. It is suspected that the moge ridden by Suryo with his wife, Anis Syarifah, crashed while attempting to overtake another vehicle. Unfortunately, at the same time, Abdullah’s Yamaha Jupiter MX, ridden with his son Deva Nadil (10), crossed from Palihan Street to the north, making impact inevitable.
As a result, the Harley was dragged, while Suryo and his wife were thrown into a roadside ditch. Tragically, Anis Syarifah died at the scene. Abdullah and his son, Deva, survived but sustained injuries including broken bones. They are currently being treated in RSUD Wates.
Muhammad Suryo took full responsibility for the incident. A Suryo family representative said all medical costs for Abdullah and Deva would be covered until they fully recover. In addition, Suryo also provided additional compensation and a new motorcycle to the victims and committed to funding Deva’s education up to university level.
In a video call to Abdullah, Suryo expressed apologies and said he wished for them to become part of his family. “Sir, I am sorry. If my wife did anything wrong, I apologise. No one wants any of this,” Suryo said during the video call on Tuesday (3/3/2026).
“Hopefully we can become a family. From today I consider you my family. Once again, I apologise,” he said.
