APBN deficit hits Rp135.7 trillion in February 2026

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The Ministry of Finance reported that the deficit of the State Budget (APBN) through end-February 2026 reached Rp 135.7 trillion, or 0.5 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP). Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said that compared with the same period last year, the deficit had increased significantly. In February 2025, the APBN deficit was Rp 30.7 trillion, or about 0.13 per cent of GDP.

“Tax collection in the first two months of 2026 grew by 30 per cent. We will ensure that this remains stable going forward,” Purbaya said during a joint press briefing at the Ministry of Finance on Friday (6 March 2026).

Based on Ministry of Finance data, government revenues up to end-February 2026 stood at Rp 358 trillion, or 11.4 per cent of the 2026 APBN target of Rp 3,153.6 trillion. This realised figure rose by 12.58 per cent compared with the same period last year, which stood at Rp 317.4 trillion.

Specifically, tax receipts reached Rp 290 trillion, or 10.8 per cent of the Rp 2,693.7 trillion target. That figure was higher than the tax revenue realised in February 2025, which was Rp 240.6 trillion.

Meanwhile, non-tax state revenue (PNBP) stood at Rp 68 trillion, or 14.8 per cent of the Rp 459.2 trillion target.

On the expenditure side, the government has realised outlays of Rp 493.8 trillion, or about 12.8 per cent of the state budget ceiling in the 2026 APBN, which stands at Rp 3,842.7 trillion. This realisation rose by 41.9 per cent compared with February 2025, which was Rp 348.1 trillion.

“We will ensure that all factors supporting economic growth are functioning well,” he said.
