JAKARTA (ANTARA): Domestic textile-maker PT Apac Inti Corpora
aims to be among the world's 10 largest denim producers next
year, the company stated yesterday.
Apac Inti president Benny Soetrisno said the company planned
to increase the production capacity at its plant in Bawen,
Semarang, Central Java, to 60 million yards of denim annually
next year, up from more than 17 million yards.
Benny said this would put the company among the world's 10
largest denim producers next year along with Cone of the United
States, Swift of the U.S., A-Santista of Brazil, Burlington of
the U.S., Siopsa/Cone of Mexico, Vicunha of Brazil, Mt. Vernon of
the U.S., Greenwood of the U.S., and Helenic of the U.S.
Apac Inti was known as Kanindotex before changing its name to
when Bambang Trihatmodjo and Johannes Kotjo took it over in May
last year from Robby Tjahjadi.
Besides denim, the company produces threads and gray textiles.
It produced 345,960 bales of yarn and 86 million yards of gray
textiles this year.
The firm recently collected Rp 408 million (US$172.8 million)
by issuing rights shares which it plans to use to improve its
plant.
He said the firm also planned to get an international
syndicated loan to upgrade its production facilities. (jsk)
