Apac to expand capacity<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (ANTARA): Domestic textile-maker PT Apac Inti Corpora
\naims to be among the world's 10 largest denim producers next
\nyear, the company stated yesterday.<\/p>\n
Apac Inti president Benny Soetrisno said the company planned
\nto increase the production capacity at its plant in Bawen,
\nSemarang, Central Java, to 60 million yards of denim annually
\nnext year, up from more than 17 million yards.<\/p>\n
Benny said this would put the company among the world's 10
\nlargest denim producers next year along with Cone of the United
\nStates, Swift of the U.S., A-Santista of Brazil, Burlington of
\nthe U.S., Siopsa\/Cone of Mexico, Vicunha of Brazil, Mt. Vernon of
\nthe U.S., Greenwood of the U.S., and Helenic of the U.S.<\/p>\n
Apac Inti was known as Kanindotex before changing its name to
\nwhen Bambang Trihatmodjo and Johannes Kotjo took it over in May
\nlast year from Robby Tjahjadi.<\/p>\n
Besides denim, the company produces threads and gray textiles.
\nIt produced 345,960 bales of yarn and 86 million yards of gray
\ntextiles this year.<\/p>\n
The firm recently collected Rp 408 million (US$172.8 million)
\nby issuing rights shares which it plans to use to improve its
\nplant.<\/p>\n
He said the firm also planned to get an international
\nsyndicated loan to upgrade its production facilities. (jsk)<\/p>",
