Serang (ANTARA) – The Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah holiday and Pancasila Day celebrations have boosted hotel occupancy rates in the Anyer and Cinangka coastal tourism area of Serang Regency, Banten, to 100%, a 50% increase from last year’s figures. Serang Deputy Regent Muhammad Najib Hamas, in Serang on Monday, said that according to data from the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) and the Serang Regency Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office (Disporapar), tourist visits to the area over the past week reached 25,000. He praised PHRI members for providing top-notch service, making Anyer and Cinangka a comfortable, safe, and welcoming destination for visitors. ‘This situation must be continuously promoted as it aligns with Serang Regent Ratu Rachmatuzakiyah’s vision to make the regency’s tourist areas an attractive alternative destination, particularly for those outside Banten,’ he said. He also stressed the importance of synergy between PHRI, Community-Based Tourism Groups (Pokdarwis), and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in maintaining service quality standards. Najib urged for UMKM and tourism products to remain affordable to foster a positive image and encourage families to return. Meanwhile, PHRI Serang Regency Chairperson Yurlena Rachman noted a sharp rise in tourist arrivals over the weekend, from Saturday (30 May) to Sunday (31 May), with the public holiday for Pancasila Day on Monday (1 June) also contributing to the surge. ‘Hotel occupancy rates in the Anyer-Cinangka area averaged 100% on Saturday and Sunday. During the Idul Adha holiday on Wednesday, occupancy ranged from 50% to 80%, representing a 50% increase compared to last year,’ Yurlena said. Yurlena added that peak visits during the weekend caused traffic congestion around the tourist area, with most hotel guests hailing from the Jabodetabek region.
