Jakarta – Indonesia’s Parliamentary Commission VIII has called on prospective Indonesian hajj pilgrims in 2026 to remain unaffected by reports concerning potential postponement of the hajj pilgrimage due to geopolitical circumstances in the Middle East.

Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the Indonesian Parliament, Abidin Fikri, assured that the situation in Makkah and Madinah continues to be monitored as secure. To date, there has been no official explanation from Saudi Arabia regarding reports of hajj postponement.

“The public is urged to remain calm as there are no indications that the conflict will disrupt the sacred regions of Makkah and Madinah,” stated Abidin Fikri on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Abidin also encouraged the Indonesian government to engage in intensive communication with Saudi Arabia to ensure information clarity for pilgrims.

The government was further requested to strengthen coordination to anticipate any potential scenarios whilst ensuring that pilgrimage services remain optimal without reducing quotas or quality.

“We in Commission VIII continue to oversee 2026 hajj preparations comprehensively, including regulatory, technical, and financial aspects, as well as the planned readiness undertaken by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah,” he concluded.
