Anticipating Global Geopolitics, Ministry of Defence and TNI Implement Fuel Efficiency Measures
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) together with the TNI is preparing efficiency measures or savings in the use of fuel oil (BBM) as a form of anticipation against global geopolitical dynamics that could potentially affect energy stability.
The Head of the Defence Information Bureau (Karo Infohan) of the General Secretariat (Setjen) of Kemhan, Brigadier General (Brigjen) TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, stated that these steps are part of early mitigation to maintain economic stability and national resilience.
“The government views the need for early mitigation to maintain economic stability and national resilience,” said Rico in his statement on Monday (23/3/2026).
“As a follow-up, Kemhan and TNI are carrying out internal adjustments that are administrative and managerial in nature,” he said.
He explained that the efficiency is focused on supporting aspects, while strategic operations and defence readiness remain the top priority, maintained optimally.
“The steps prepared include more effective and priority-based regulation of resource use, including in the operations of main weapon system equipment (alutsista) and official mobility,” he clarified.
According to him, the policy is implemented adaptively, measurably, and gradually according to the needs of each work unit.
Some schemes prepared include adjusting workdays from five days to four days for certain functions that allow it.
“Then, regulating the use of alutsista based on priority index and operational needs, as well as limiting the use of official vehicles and employee shuttle transport while still considering the effectiveness of task implementation,” he explained.
Kemhan emphasised that this efficiency is a manifestation of preparedness and discipline in managing strategic resources, not due to an emergency condition.
“The government also ensures that current national energy reserves are still in a safe condition,” he said.
