A notable anomaly has emerged from an auction of seized assets in corruption cases conducted by the KPK. A package containing two mobile phones with a reserve price of IDR 75,000 sold for IDR 59.7 million.

“There is indeed an anomaly regarding the exceptionally high winning bid value,” said Mungki Hadipratikto, Director of Asset Tracking, Seized Property Management and Execution (Labuksi) at the KPK, to reporters on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Mungki acknowledged that he was uncertain whether the winning bidder for the two phones had already completed payment. He stated that the winning bidder has until 25 March to settle the payment.

Mungki noted that such pricing irregularities in KPK auctions have occurred previously. On that occasion, he said, the KPK had a winning bidder for a silk batik shirt where the reserve price was IDR 5,000 but the final bid reached IDR 5 million.

“This happened once during an earlier auction. It involved a silk batik shirt with a reserve price of IDR 5,000 and a winning bid of IDR 5 million,” said Mungki.

However, according to Mungki, the winning bidder on that occasion failed to settle the payment from the auction, so the silk batik shirt was re-auctioned. When re-auctioned, the silk batik shirt sold for IDR 2.5 million.

“The winning bidder at that time defaulted and did not settle the remaining auction fees. The item was therefore re-auctioned and eventually sold for IDR 2.5 million, which the winning bidder paid in full. So this is the second time such an incident has occurred,” Mungki explained.

Mungki stated that the KPK is awaiting payment from the winning bidder for the two phones. He said the phones will be re-auctioned if payment is not made.

“We are still waiting until the final payment deadline for the auction fees. We remain hopeful that the winning bidder will honour their commitment to settle the auction costs,” said Mungki.
