Anies, Sutiyoso hingga Foke Hadir Perayaan Cap Go Meh di Glodok
Cap Go Meh 2026 celebrations in the Pecinan area of Glodok, West Jakarta, were a special moment that brought together the capital’s leaders across generations. Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, specifically highlighted the presence of his predecessors, from Sutiyoso and Fauzi Bowo to Anies Baswedan. According to Pramono, the attendance of cross-generational figures not only warmed the atmosphere but also sent a positive message about the sustainability of the city’s future. “And earlier the presence of Bang Foke (Fauzi Bowo), Mr. Sutiyoso, Mr. Anies, Mr. Djarot and so on was truly meaningful in showing the continuity of development that exists in Jakarta is proceeding well,” said Pramono in the Pecinan area, Glodok, West Jakarta, on Tuesday (3/3).
The Cap Go Meh celebration was also attended by Metro Jaya Police Chief Irjen Asep Edi Suheri, Jaya Military Commander Major General Deddy Suryadi, and Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Veronika Tan. It was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency Rene Umar, as well as several other officials from the Jakarta Provincial Government. The festival’s vibrancy, closing the Year of the Lunar New Year, was also a showcase of the city’s rich history and its tolerance among residents.
Pramono viewed the celebration not merely as a traditional ritual, but as an artistic display that reveals how diversity has fused into Jakarta’s local identity. He expressed pride in witnessing the tangible embodiment of this cultural blend within the community.
“This event, as we have all witnessed, demonstrates how Chinese culture has undergone acculturation with Betawi and also with Jakarta,” said Pramono. The successful festival, which drew enthusiastic crowds, was undoubtedly the result of collaboration among various parties. Pramono stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government collaborated with the Indonesian Chinese Association (INTI) to curate this cultural event. “On behalf of the Jakarta government, we would also like to thank INTI, Pak Teddy, and colleagues for the smooth running of the event,” he added.
