Andrie Yunus Sends Letter Rejecting Examination in Military Trial, Lips Still Stitched
The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) has sent a rejection letter to prevent KontraS activist Andrie Yunus from being examined in the trial at the Jakarta Military Court II-08 as a victim witness.
Andrie Yunus is the victim of an acid attack in the Salemba area, Central Jakarta, on 12 March 2026.
This was conveyed by Andrie Yunus’s legal team when they visited the Military Court and submitted the rejection letter.
Jane explained that Andrie’s current condition is still under hospital treatment.
“The request comes from Andrie Yunus himself and is primarily related to Andrie Yunus’s medical condition. Last week, Andrie Yunus underwent another operation,” she said.
Jane emphasised that Andrie Yunus has consistently rejected the military judicial process related to the case he experienced.
According to her, the case should be processed as a general criminal offence, not through the military court.
“We must emphasise that the forced summons or criminal threats directed at Andrie Yunus constitute an attempt at revictimisation of the victim, who is still bedridden and recovering in the hospital at RSCM,” she continued.
Previously, four Indonesian National Army (TNI) personnel were charged with dousing KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus with acid in the central Jakarta area.
The motive was offence taken with Andrie Yunus for conducting an instruction at the Fairmont Jakarta Hotel on 16 March 2025.
“The defendants considered that Andrie Yunus had insulted the TNI institution and even trampled on the TNI institution,” stated Military Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) TNI Muhammad Iswadi during the trial at the Jakarta Military Court II-08 on Wednesday.
The four defendants are charged with multiple articles, namely Article 469 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code as the primary charge, Article 468 Paragraph (1) as subsidiary, and Articles 467 Paragraphs (1) and (2) as further subsidiary, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023.
