During the visit, Andre was accompanied by the Head of the West Sumatra National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN), Elsa Putra Friandi. The inspection was conducted to ensure that the rebuilding planning process for the bridge proceeds according to target. The Anduring Bridge is a vital access point for around 30,000 residents in several nagari in the area.

Currently, to cross the wide and fast-flowing river, residents must use wooden rafts made by the community. Pedestrians and motorcyclists are not charged, but donations are accepted as they wish. Meanwhile, four-wheeled vehicles cannot pass and must take a detour of dozens of kilometres.

Andre emphasised that the bridge reconstruction is a priority because it concerns economic activities, education, and the mobility of the community, which has been paralysed since the bridge was swept away by flash floods.

“This is in line with the community’s requests. Insyaallah, the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) will be completed by early August. The bridge to be built will be 2 x 70 metres long, or a total of 140 metres. Currently, it is still in the study process by the River Technical Agency in Solo because the river conditions have widened after the floods,” said Andre in his statement on Saturday (9/5/2026).

Andre stated that after the DED is completed, he will immediately report the progress to the Minister of Public Works so that the construction can be budgeted through the State Budget (APBN).

“Our target is for physical construction of the bridge to begin by the end of 2026. I will directly oversee it in Jakarta to ensure the funding is available soon,” he revealed.

Based on the design plan, the Anduring Bridge will be constructed using a B70-type steel frame structure with a span of 2 x 70 metres. The bridge deck width will be 6 metres, equipped with footpaths on both sides, each 0.5 metres wide. The foundation will use 800 mm diameter bored piles to strengthen the structure against changes in river flow post-disaster.

In addition to the Anduring Bridge, Andre Rosiade also mentioned plans for the Sikabu Bridge, which is currently awaiting the completion of administration from the Padang Pariaman Regency Government. “Once the administration is finalised, the DED will also be completed soon, and we will push for it to be budgeted,” said Andre.

The reconstruction of the Anduring Bridge is expected to provide a permanent solution for the community affected by severed access due to the flood disaster, while also accelerating economic recovery and connectivity in the Padang Pariaman area.

Meanwhile, the Head of BPJN West Sumatra, Elsa Putra Friandi, stated that the estimated budget for the bridge construction is nearly Rp49 billion, with a construction period of around 10 to 12 months.

According to her, the study is important so that the new bridge has better resilience than the previous construction and can withstand similar disasters in the future.

“This bridge will use a steel frame with one pillar in the middle. For the technical design, we are still providing assistance with the River Technical Agency to ensure the foundation and abutment protection are truly suited to the river’s characteristics after the floods,” Elsa concluded.
