Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Andre Rosiade, met with Minangkabau students grouped under the Minang Students’ Association (IKAMMI) in Semarang, where they conveyed their aspirations. Andre also provided funding assistance to support the organisation’s needs and student activities. Student representatives expressed urgent needs for a secretariat or dormitory to serve as a hub for activities. Currently, IKAMMI Semarang, which oversees hundreds of Minang students, faces limitations in facilities, including the absence of a permanent secretariat. Andre Rosiade then assisted with the rental costs for the secretariat as a short-term solution. “For now, while waiting for the dormitory, we’ll help with the secretariat first. I request you send the data immediately, and we’ll provide assistance,” said Andre Rosiade on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Andre Rosiade provided Rp 50 million in assistance for the secretariat rental costs. This aid is expected to serve as the organisation’s activity centre, from discussions and mentoring to communal student activities for Minang students in Semarang. In addition, the Gerindra politician also provided an additional Rp 15 million to support student activities, including plans for an inter-regional organisation futsal tournament initiated by IKAMMI Semarang. Besides direct assistance, Andre Rosiade urged the management to formally convey their needs to the local government regarding the construction of a student dormitory. He emphasised the importance of clear asset status and government support so that permanent facilities can be realised soon. “Alhamdulillah, we have been assisted. This is very helpful, as previously there were funding shortages for activities,” stated one of the student representatives.
