Ancol Kidnapping Case Exposes Etomidate Vape Distribution with Rp 40 Million Turnover per Transaction
JAKARTA - A suspected kidnapping case in the Ancol area, North Jakarta, involving a foreign national (foreigner) with initials CH (50), has exposed the distribution of vapes containing etomidate, with a turnover reaching Rp 40 million in a single transaction.
The head of the Narcotics Unit at the North Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Ari Galang Saputra, stated that the value comes from the sales of etomidate vapes that have been carried out by the suspect.
“The turnover is approximately Rp 40 million from the proceeds of one transaction sale. For the monthly figure, we are still calculating it because there are some that have not yet been distributed,” said Galang when met by Kompas.com at the North Jakarta Police Station on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
“Some that have been distributed are to specific buyers like that. He meets them directly based on the information obtained,” he added.
From the examination results, CH is known to have been conducting production activities as well as distributing etomidate vapes for several months at one location found by police from the development of the suspected kidnapping case.
Galang said that the raw materials for producing etomidate vapes were imported from China.
However, the police are still investigating the entry route of those raw materials into Indonesia.
“For the raw materials, they come from China. For now, we are still delving into it for further examination, how those goods could enter,” he explained.
“For now, we have caught one and have conducted further examinations. We are still pursuing the other suspects,” he added.
