Amvesindo and PwC Strengthen Governance in Indonesian Startup Investments
youngster.id - The Indonesian Venture Capital Association for Startups (Amvesindo) and PwC Indonesia are strengthening industry synergies through the organisation of an Executive Workshop. This collaboration aims to improve governance standards and risk management for startups amid global economic dynamics.
In the workshop session titled “Forensic Audit & Fraud Risk in Startup Investments: Detection, Prevention, and Mitigation Strategies”, facilitated by PwC Indonesia, it is designed to provide practical insights for investors in detecting and preventing potential deviations in startup investments.
Sacha Winzenried, Director of PwC Indonesia, emphasised that many early-stage venture capital firms lack adequate control systems.
“Strengthening governance is a key factor in preventing mismanagement and fraud, while also maintaining the industry’s reputation in the market,” said Sacha, quoted on Friday (10/4/2026).
Maman Firmansyah, Director of Supervision for Financial Institutions and Venture Capital at the Financial Services Authority (OJK), stated that industry health begins with transparent decision-making processes.
“If governance is not strong from the start, risks and problems in subsequent stages will be difficult to avoid,” Maman stressed in his keynote speech.
Amvesindo Chairman, Eddi Danusaputro, explained that amid global economic dynamics, synergies among members are crucial. The venture capital industry is expected to continue supporting innovation while maintaining sustainable management.
“In the face of economic challenges and startup industry dynamics, governance and risk management are key factors. Not only to ensure business continuity, but also to ensure the industry can grow healthily while still supporting innovation yet managed sustainably,” said Eddi.
Some key points for the future transition of the Indonesian startup industry include:
Business Fundamentals: Prioritising quality over mere numerical growth.
Profitability: Focusing on long-term business sustainability.
Collaboration: Aligning perspectives between investors, corporations, and regulators.
Founder & CEO of Amartha, Andi Taufan Garuda Putra, highlighted the shift in success benchmarks for startups.
“Going forward, startup success will no longer be measured solely by growth, but also by the quality of business fundamentals and the real impact produced. Investors and founders need alignment in building sustainable businesses, with strong governance and a focus on profitability,” said Andi.
President Director of Mandiri Capital Indonesia, Ronald S. Simorangkir, added that the future of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem greatly depends on the quality of collaboration between investors, corporations, and regulators.
“We believe the future of Indonesia’s startup ecosystem is determined by the quality of collaboration between investors, corporations, and regulators. Initiatives like this provide space to align perspectives, strengthen trust, and encourage growth aligned with good governance practices,” said Ronald.
Through this initiative, Amvesindo and PwC Indonesia hope to continue improving investment quality and strengthening public confidence in the startup industry, to support the long-term growth of Indonesia’s digital economy.
