Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government has assured that the price conditions for food ahead of Eid al-Fitr remain under control. Agriculture Minister (Mentan) Amran Sulaiman said that the majority of commodities are relatively stable, with some even experiencing price declines.

Amran stated that the government continues to monitor supply and price developments during Ramadan up to Eid al-Fitr. From the monitoring results, stock availability is considered sufficient to resist price pressures.

“Stock is high. So with high stock, high demand. Therefore I checked earlier that prices are relatively stable (food prices). Some have risen slightly; broiler chickens have risen by 0.68 percent on average across Indonesia, relatively safe,” Amran said at a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture’s offices, South Jakarta, on Friday (6 March 2026).

He regarded the rise in broiler chicken prices as still very small and within a reasonable range. He even suggested that the rise could provide room for farmers to earn additional income ahead of Hari Raya.

“If it rises by 0.6 percent, let’s be kind to farmers a little so that they can buy Eid clothes as well,” he added.

In addition to broiler chickens, Amran noted that several commodities have actually recorded price declines, particularly horticultural commodities.

“There are declines. Be careful. Yesterday there were declines in bird’s eye chilli and red chilli. Red onions and garlic also fell,” he said.

According to data from the Ministry of Trade’s Basic Goods Market Monitoring System (SP2KP) up to the fourth week of February 2026, the price of bird’s eye chilli did show fluctuations. Nationally, the average price of this commodity stood around Rp70,036 per kilogram (kg).

This price rose about 21.82% compared with January. However, in recent weeks prices have started to correct in several areas.

The same data shows an increase in the Price Development Index (IPH) for bird’s eye chilli in around 61.39% of districts/cities in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, red chilli recorded an average price of around Rp43,746 per kg in the same period. The price increase for this commodity was relatively limited, at around 2.81% compared with January 2026, and still within the Government’s Sales Reference Price (HAP) range.

Red chilli also recorded IPH increases in around 59.72% of Indonesia, indicating price pressures in parts of the country, even though nationally it remains controlled.

Separately, garlic prices fell slightly. The national average stood at around Rp39,811 per kg at end-February 2026, or down about 0.01% compared with January. Nevertheless, the price remained above the applicable HAP.

Declines in garlic prices were recorded in around 40.83% of districts/cities, while other areas showed relatively stable price movement.

As for broiler chicken, the national average price stood at around Rp41,013 per kg at end-February 2026. The figure slightly surpassed the consumer HAP of Rp40,000 per kg set by the government.

Month-on-month, broiler chicken prices rose by around 2.21% compared with January 2026. The rise reflected an IPH increase in around 58.06% of Indonesia’s regions.
