AMINEF responds

In reply to Ms. Nurhaya's letter (July 30) about the
procedures for applying for 1999/2000 Fulbright scholarships, I
would like to clarify how Indonesians wishing to apply for the
highly competitive Fulbright scholarships can proceed.

Ms. Nurhaya wrote that she read about the Fulbright Program on
the Internet. Readers with Internet access may visit the
American-Indonesian Exchange Foundation website at
http://www.usembassyjakarta.org/aminef for information on
Fulbright Program objectives, procedures and required
qualifications.

Anyone may download application forms from our website without
coming to AMINEF at Gedung Balai Pustaka, Jl. Gunung Sahari Raya
4, Jakarta. Completed applications should be accompanied by
letters of recommendation from a former lecturer (not necessarily
by a rector) and a work supervisor. Those with questions or
without Internet access are welcome to visit AMINEF from 9 a.m.
to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Visitors may request
application forms by providing AMINEF a curriculum vitae (CV) for
preliminary review, to determine whether or not the Fulbright
Program, or perhaps another academic option, is best for the
applicant.

We regret that Ms. Nurhaya received incomplete information
about the Fulbright Program, and we hope she will visit us again
so we can advise her more completely on the possibility of
studying in the U.S.
