In reply to Ms. Nurhaya's letter (July 30) about the
\nprocedures for applying for 1999\/2000 Fulbright scholarships, I
\nwould like to clarify how Indonesians wishing to apply for the
\nhighly competitive Fulbright scholarships can proceed.<\/p>\n
Ms. Nurhaya wrote that she read about the Fulbright Program on
\nthe Internet. Readers with Internet access may visit the
\nAmerican-Indonesian Exchange Foundation website at
\nhttp:\/\/www.usembassyjakarta.org\/aminef for information on
\nFulbright Program objectives, procedures and required
\nqualifications.<\/p>\n
Anyone may download application forms from our website without
\ncoming to AMINEF at Gedung Balai Pustaka, Jl. Gunung Sahari Raya
\n4, Jakarta. Completed applications should be accompanied by
\nletters of recommendation from a former lecturer (not necessarily
\nby a rector) and a work supervisor. Those with questions or
\nwithout Internet access are welcome to visit AMINEF from 9 a.m.
\nto 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Visitors may request
\napplication forms by providing AMINEF a curriculum vitae (CV) for
\npreliminary review, to determine whether or not the Fulbright
\nProgram, or perhaps another academic option, is best for the
\napplicant.<\/p>\n
We regret that Ms. Nurhaya received incomplete information
\nabout the Fulbright Program, and we hope she will visit us again
\nso we can advise her more completely on the possibility of
\nstudying in the U.S.<\/p>\n
