Jakarta — The capital market is currently navigating significant global uncertainty triggered by geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran. The market has also been affected by downgrades of Indonesia’s outlook from several international institutions, whilst indices remain pressured by the freeze on new index constituents from Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) and Financial Times Stock Exchange (FTSE).

Bernadus Wijaya, Chief Executive Officer of Sucor Securities, has advised investors to approach current market conditions rationally without succumbing to panic. He suggested that the ongoing market correction presents an opportunity for investors to gradually accumulate shares with strong fundamentals.

Wijaya expressed optimism based on statements from US President Donald Trump, who indicated that the current conflict is unlikely to last long. Additionally, optimism is supported by various reform initiatives undertaken by the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) and Financial Services Authority (OJK) to comply with MSCI standards.

“Moreover, Indonesia’s solid macroeconomic fundamentals remain a supportive factor for the future prospects of Indonesia’s capital market,” Wijaya explained. He urged investors and traders in Indonesia to look beyond investment returns and remain mindful of social conditions in their communities.

Sucor Securities has been implementing a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to support communities affected by flooding in SMK Negeri 1 Baktiya Barat, North Aceh District. The company provided assistance including food supplies, school uniforms for students and teachers, and school bags.

“We hope this initiative can help affected communities and remind us all to remain humble and support one another,” Wijaya added.
