Amex's guide to investors

JAKARTA (JP): American Express Bank Ltd. (Amex) launched here
a book entitled Pocket Guide to Economics for the Global Investor
to provide an easy-to read, yet comprehensive guide to the
economic process and policies driving markets.

"Cross border portfolio flows is one of the fastest growing
areas of finance," the book's author, Amex's chief economist and
Strategist John Calverley, noted at the book launching on Tuesday
afternoon.

Calverley said over time stocks tend to outperform bonds and
both do better than deposits, arguing that the trend reflects the
historical correlation between risk and reward.

The 211-pocket guidebook contains general information on
economic growth, inflation and unemployment, business cycles,
fiscal policy, theories of investment, currency, bond, stock and
