All ships taking part in Gaza humanitarian flotilla intercepted by Israel
Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), a coalition of pro-Palestinian activists, has confirmed that all ships involved in the latest flotilla attempting to breach the Gaza blockade have been intercepted by Israeli forces. ‘All ships have been intercepted. We are awaiting the latest information regarding their illegal abductions,’ GSF said via Telegram on Tuesday.
A humanitarian aid flotilla bound for the Gaza Strip departed from Barcelona, Spain, on 15 April.
On the night of 29 to 30 April, activists said Israeli forces took control of their ships near Crete, damaged the ships’ engines and navigation systems, and left them.
Then on Monday (18 May), the humanitarian mission ships were surrounded and forced to be intercepted by Zionist warships in international waters about 250 nautical miles from the Gaza coast.
At the end of March, the coalition said the number of ships in the latest flotilla would reach 100, with more than 2,000 people taking part.
