The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Amman has confirmed that all Indonesian nationals (WNI) who were stranded in Jordan due to flight cancellations have returned home. The final return took place on 9 March 2026.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan, Ade Padmo Sarwono, stated that the latest return involved dozens of Indonesian nationals who flew back from Turkey. “As of 9 March 2026, all Indonesian tourists stranded in Jordan have returned to Indonesia,” Ade told Tempo on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

The KBRI Amman had received reports since 28 February 2026 regarding several Indonesian tourists stranded in Jordan. They were unable to continue their travels as numerous flights were cancelled amid escalating tensions in the Middle East region.

A total of 186 Indonesian tourists from 10 travel agencies were affected. They were scattered across six hotels in Jordan after entering the territory from the West Bank.

Ade stated that KBRI Amman subsequently provided assistance to the tourists to arrange their independent return. By early March, all tourists had been gradually repatriated to Indonesia.

The embassy also maintained direct communication with the stranded Indonesians to ensure their welfare. “KBRI informed them of repatriation route options and provided guarantee letters for those who would be repatriated through Saudi Arabia,” said Ade.

The Foreign Ministry recorded that the number of Indonesian nationals in Jordan reached 1,989 as of 7 March 2026. They comprise migrant workers in domestic service and hotel industries, students, diaspora members, and KBRI staff and their families.

Despite heightened tensions in the Middle East region, the government stated that no Indonesian nationals in Jordan have become victims of the conflict. To date, no evacuation of Indonesian nationals from the country has been conducted.

Ade stated that KBRI Amman remains prepared with contingency measures should the security situation deteriorate. The Indonesian mission continues to coordinate with the Foreign Ministry to finalise evacuation route options if necessary.

According to him, the process of evacuating Indonesian nationals from a country involves several stages, including establishing alert status by the Indonesian mission after consulting with the central government, notification to local authorities, and issuing advisories to Indonesian nationals regarding the option to participate in evacuation or remain in the country.
