Jakarta — President Director Perry Barman Slangor of PT Akulaku Finance Indonesia said the company targets financing disbursement to grow 12% year-on-year to Rp8.2 trillion this year. “We remain targeting double-digit growth, i.e., 12 percent, or new financing reaching Rp8.2 trillion (in 2026),” he said in Jakarta on Thursday afternoon (5/3).

To realise this growth target, the company has outlined several main strategies, including leveraging innovation and advances in artificial intelligence (AI). He said the company is seeking to optimise the use of AI in assessing consumer creditworthiness (credit scoring). “This credit scoring system can mitigate risk and also help us to expand disbursement that is more sustainable and healthier,” he said. In addition, the company will increase integration of AI and deepfake verification in the face recognition system to detect customer profiles in real time (liveness), while also reducing potential cyber fraud (scams).

Perry said another strategy to achieve the financing target is to expand business into new potentially attractive regions outside Java, especially tier-2 and tier-3 national cities. He noted that currently 68% of the company’s business is concentrated on Java, with only 32% outside Java. He said they target deeper market penetration in Sumatra and the eastern region of Indonesia so that financing distribution becomes more even.

However, Perry highlighted several challenges in expanding, particularly due to differences in lifestyle and purchasing power, which have historically been higher in Java. To prepare for this expansion, the company is also actively diversifying funding through partnerships with 16 banking institutions, including Maybank, Superbank, Sampoerna, J-Trust Bank, and Hana Bank. “And we are working to continuously diversify, and we even look to explore potential possibilities for offshore borrowing as well,” he added.
