JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto has stated that Indonesia’s economy is currently in good condition, ranking just below India among G20 nations.

“Overall, our national economy is in good shape, and among G20 countries, it is only lower than India’s with growth in the fourth quarter at 5.39 per cent,” Airlangga said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday evening (8/4/2026).

He explained that the economic condition is expected to continue improving. Domestic food resilience is also relatively strong, given the large production and reserves of main food commodities in Bulog warehouses.

Based on his presentation, the rice stock in Bulog warehouses currently stands at 4.6 million tonnes.

“And for energy from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, we have agreed on B50 (biodiesel) starting from 1 July, which will enhance budget resilience through savings of Rp 158 trillion,” Airlangga elaborated.

The debt ratio is being kept at around 40 per cent, which is about 20 per cent lower than the safe limit set in the State Finance Law.

“The President has committed to maintaining the debt ratio at 40 per cent, even though the law allows up to 60 per cent. Similarly, the budget deficit is kept at 3 per cent, and this will be maintained until the end of the year,” Airlangga clarified.

The price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil is estimated at 96.7 US dollars per barrel, while Brent crude is around 95.23 US dollars per barrel.

“Palm oil prices have also dipped slightly but remain at 1,192,” Airlangga added.
