Airlangga: New DHE Natural Resources Regulations to Take Effect from 1 June 2026
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The government has confirmed that revisions to the Devisa Hasil Ekspor Sumber Daya Alam (DHE SDA) regulations will take effect from 1 June 2026. This was stated by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto after a meeting with the Minister of Finance, Bank Indonesia Governor, OJK Chairman, and LPS Head with President Prabowo Subianto this afternoon at the State Palace on Tuesday (5/5/2025).
“The latest concerns the Devisa Hasil Ekspor Sumber Daya Alam (DHE SDA) regulations, so the revision to Government Regulation 8 (PP No. 8 of 2025 amending PP No. 36 of 2023) has been finalised and will be implemented from 1 June 2026,” said Airlangga.
Accordingly, Airlangga confirmed that all DHE SDA must be deposited in red-plate banks (Himbara) for a minimum of 12 months and converted to rupiah, up to a maximum of 50% of the total DHE SDA for companies or exporters.
For the extractive sector, oil and gas, the government is applying an exception to the placement duration, namely for three months. Previously, it was stated that exporters could also place funds in foreign currency government bonds issued domestically. In line with that, the government is issuing foreign currency government bonds domestically to absorb excess foreign currency from DHE while deepening the market.
Thus, the location of special accounts or reksus is now only required to be opened at Himbara that conduct business in foreign currency owned by the state in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, whereas previously it could be done at LPEI and/or general foreign currency business banks.
