Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, has confirmed that Indonesia’s economic growth of 5.61% in the first quarter of 2026 is the highest among several G20 countries that have released similar data.

“Our growth of 5.61% surpasses that of several G20 countries,” Airlangga stated during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.

Airlangga acknowledged that the comparison was made against countries that have already announced their economic performance for the first quarter of 2026.

“Among the countries that have reported, including China, Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and the United States, we have the highest,” he said.

Airlangga added that India, another G20 country, has not yet released its economic growth data, so it is not included in the comparison.

According to him, this achievement demonstrates that Indonesia’s economy continues to grow strongly, amidst global dynamics that are still seeking a new equilibrium.

Airlangga noted that the growth was driven by various government policies prepared to maintain consumption momentum during Lebaran.

“This growth is the result of preparations by the government through various policies, particularly in connection with the Lebaran holiday,” Airlangga said.

He explained that household consumption remains the main driver of the economy, with growth of 5.52%. According to him, the momentum of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, along with increased public mobility, contributed to boosting domestic consumption in the first quarter of 2026.

In addition to household consumption, government spending also grew significantly and served as an important pillar of economic growth.

“Government spending grew strongly by 21.81%, amounting to around Rp815 trillion,” he stated.
