Airlangga: Indonesia's Economic Growth Among the Highest in G20
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that Indonesia’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 at 5.61% is one of the highest among G20 countries and exceeds projections from several institutions.
Following a limited meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, Airlangga conveyed that data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows economic growth reaching 5.61% for that period, higher than estimates from several institutions of around 5.2%.
“Our growth is at 5.61%, and this growth is among the highest in the G20 countries. So, we are above China, above Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, even the United States,” said Airlangga.
He stated that household consumption growth stood at 5.52%, accompanied by a rise in government consumption of 21.31%.
Not only that, export and import trade also showed positive performance, along with several sectors such as processing industry, trade, government administration, other services, transportation and warehousing, agriculture to construction.
“In terms of macro indicators, inflation has also been successfully contained at 2.42%, down from 3.48% in the previous period,” explained Airlangga.
In addition, he elaborated that the consumer confidence index is at 122.9.
Not only that, the trade balance also shows a surplus for 71 months with a figure of US$3.32 billion. Foreign exchange reserves up to March reached US$148 billion, and the balance of payments surplus was US$6.1 billion.
Investment realisation increased by 7% to Rp498.8 trillion. Banking credit growth is at 9.49%, and third-party funds at 13.55%.
“Then, of course, several matters that caught the President’s attention regarding capital outflow. And the capital outflow was further explored as caused by one, the capital market, two SBN (Government Securities), and three, neutralised by SRBI (Bank Indonesia Rupiah Securities),” said Airlangga.
Regarding that, Bank Indonesia and the Ministry of Finance have agreed on coordination to maintain capital flow stability.
