Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the Work From Home (WFH) policy would be extended for two more months in response to the energy crisis dynamics as the war continues. This decision was reached after a Limited Meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace on Thursday (21 May 2026). The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang, and Investment and Coordination/Head of BKPM Rosan Roslani.

‘Then we also discussed various policies including the package related to the economy going forward in a situation like now, where the war is not over, so we will continue WFH for two months,’ Airlangga told reporters.

However, Airlangga did not disclose when the rule would come into effect. Previously the policy allowed one day of WFH per week for civil servants. This policy started on 1 April 2026 and was implemented for two months.

Not only for civil servants, the Ministry of Manpower has also issued guidance for the private sector and BUMN/BUMD to implement a similar policy, though it is not mandatory.

Furthermore, Airlangga will also issue an incentive package to boost the economy in Quarter II. ‘In addition, some incentives are being prepared by the government to help the economy move in the second quarter,’ Airlangga said.
