Airlangga: 0% Tariffs on 1,819 Goods Remain in Force During US Investigation
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has affirmed that 1,819 commodities receiving zero tariff facilities from the United States will remain in effect amidst a trade investigation conducted by the US Trade Representative (USTR) against 16 countries, including Indonesia.
“The 1,819 commodities that are already at 0% tariffs will remain at 0%,” Airlangga stated during a media gathering at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs office in Jakarta on Monday, 16 March 2026.
Indonesia is assessed as able to obtain significant benefits by securing several crucial points in the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) with the United States, including 0% tariffs on 1,819 product lines.
The 0% tariffs are applied to important agricultural and industrial products, including palm oil, coffee, cocoa, spices, rubber, electronic components and aircraft components, as well as 0% tariffs on textile and apparel products from Indonesia. This will provide tangible benefits to more than 4 million workers in related sectors.
The zero tariffs on thousands of these products are feared to be withdrawn amidst the US trade investigation with several countries.
The Trump administration has initiated a trade investigation into what it considers unfair trading practices. The investigation is being conducted by the US Trade Representative (USTR) against 16 countries, including Indonesia.
The USTR investigation commenced on 11 March 2026. This step was taken following the US Supreme Court’s rescinding of high import tariff policy.
