Airin Sabet: Influential Woman Leader in Regional Development
Airin Rachmi Diany, the former Mayor of South Tangerang, has successfully received the Outstanding Influential Woman Leader in Regional Development award at the CNN Indonesia Leading Women Awards 2026. The award for the former Mayor of South Tangerang was presented by CNN Indonesia Director Desi Anwar at the peak event of the Leading Women Awards 2026, held at the Auditorium of Menara Bank Mega, Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/4) evening. Airin served as Mayor of South Tangerang for two terms from 2011 to 2021. She received several awards during her tenure as mayor. One of them was the Satya Lencana Pembangunan award from President Joko Widodo. Airin won this award because, during her two terms leading South Tangerang, she was deemed successful in building infrastructure and strengthening digital-based public services. Under her leadership, South Tangerang achieved the highest Human Development Index (IPM) in Banten and strengthened the role of the PMI in humanitarian actions. This award is organised by CNN Indonesia as a form of appreciation for inspirational women in the country who have contributed in various fields. In this edition, the Leading Women Awards 2026 adopts the theme ‘Empowered Women, Empowering the Nation’. This theme highlights women as pillars of the nation’s civilisation. The CNN Indonesia Leading Women Awards 2026 serves as a platform spotlighting inspirational women with tangible contributions to society. Through values of impactful leadership, integrity, inclusivity, and sustainability, this award is expected to continue encouraging the role of women in various strategic sectors.
